This week on Third Eye Cinema, we brush up our vocal chops and run a few scales with a pair of notable European metal vocalists! First up, we have with us a young woman who has made something of a name for herself among modern metal circles. With her powerful vocal presence and notably fetching looks, she’s been a major factor in putting Swedish gothic metal band The Murder of My Sweet on the map! With a new solo record that taps more into the traditional 80’s metal AOR vibe, she has most assuredly taken center stage to deliver an even more pronounced focus on those soaring vocals. Join us as we speak to the lovely and talented Angelica Rylin, only here on Third Eye Cinema! Next up, a true legend among traditional thrash, speed and power metal fans in particular, not to mention a true inspiration among metal vocalists per se! Making his mark as the second and easily best of the frontmen for the great Teutonic speed/thrash/power metal act Helloween, it was his golden voice that brought the legendary Keeper of the Seven Keys albums to international acclaim and prominence. After two more albums that found the band expanding their direction and exploring a bit musically, he moved on to a string of solo albums and guest appearances on literally dozens of albums across the European metal spectrum. Currently fronting a hard edged, melodic AOR metal project named Place Vendome, join us as we speak to legendary vocalist Michael Kiske, only here on Third Eye Cinema! http://www.facebook.com/ThirdEyeCinema http://thirdeyecinema.wordpress.com/

This week on Third Eye Cinema, a double bill of European metal bands you should be buzzing about! First up, we speak to a man whose band sports a truly international focus! With Germans, Italians, Serbians and Americans all passing through the ranks, these UK-based, traditionally inflected metallers call to mind everything from vintage TNT and Yngwie Malmsteen to Journey! With a short but surprisingly busy career spanning a mere 7 years, they've managed to put out 4 albums, 2 EPs and a single, while maintaining a high level of quality and polish throughout! After a brief period of internal changeover marked most pronouncedly by the loss of their original vocalist, the band is back and sounding better than ever with an even more dynamic frontman and stronger production savvy, big backup vocal-assisted choruses, and a surprisingly uplifting, positively charged lyrical focus! It's no hyperbolic exaggeration to say this may very well be their defining moment on record... Join us as we speak to the irrepressible Paul Logue of Eden's Curse, only here on Third Eye Cinema! Next up, a man whose band has been stumping away for two decades straight, gradually evolving from a straightforward black metal act to death metal to an unclassifiably melodic based sound that incorporates elements of power metal, industrial, gothic metal and more! With often dark and personal lyrics offset by a smooth, clean vocal approach over a driving modern metal backing, this is about as close to emo as metal gets. Join us as we speak to vocalist/guitarist Eike Freese of Dark Age, only here on Third Eye Cinema!

Third Eye Cinema 10/13/13 with Nige Rockett of Onslaught

This week on Third Eye Cinema: Nige Rockett of UK thrash pioneers Onslaught! Predating not only fellow British acts, but just about any thrash band worldwide, Onslaught delivered their legendary Power from Hell album all the way back in 1983! Progressing quickly from their punk rock roots to a more streamlined metallic sheen, they shifted roles internally to add aggressive vocalist Sy Keeler for their second record The Force, still considered one of the greatest releases of the genre to this day! Following some major label interference and a brief run with Grim Reaper vocalist Steve Grimmett, the band called it a day. But nearly 15 years on, they reunited for a string of notable releases, each more pummeling than the last. With their latest, simply titled VI, Onslaught show themselves to be more ferocious and unrelenting than bands less than a third their age! Join us for an entertaining and informative discussion with guitarist and founding member Nige Rockett of Onslaught, only here on Third Eye Cinema!

Coming soon to Third Eye Cinema, something a bit outside our usual purview! First up, we speak to a man whose former act was a fairly major concern in mainstream terms. With tracks appearing on the soundtracks to two major studio horror films and providing the theme for a major professional wrestling event, Mushroomhead made the charts and carry with them a considerable fanbase. Now leading the charge with his own project which taps into a very 90’s metal aggro meets southern groove vibe while pulling in some unusual-for-the-style musicianship skills, please join us as we talk the road from Mushroomhead to his own band Kriadiaz with guitarist Dave “Gravy” Felton! Next, we speak with legendary metal drummer Sandy Sledge! As the driving force behind a number of all-female bands throughout the 80's and early 90's, including Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi and Warbride (with the amazing Yngwie style guitarist Lori Linstruth), MI PIT graduate Sandy has worked numerous times with the great Leather Leone of Chastain fame, before taking a right turn into the world of musicals(!). Now, after 20 years apart, Sandy and Leather have reunited to deliver a haunting yet hard hitting slab of traditional style metal, filtered through a postmodern crunch. Join us for an entertaining and informative discussion with Sandy Sledge, only here on Third Eye Cinema! http://www.facebook.com/ThirdEyeCinema http://thirdeyecinema.wordpress.com/

Third Eye Cinema Desi Metal Special with Kryptos and Shakra

Sunday Sep 22, 2013
Coming soon to Third Eye Cinema: we go global with two bands with roots outside the traditional US - European axis! First we feature a band who from a Western perspective pretty much sprung at us out of nowhere. Despite hailing from a nation not generally noted for its metal scene, they’ve skyrocketed from humble roots to international attention. Gaining ever increasing notice and critical acclaim with each successive release, opening for acts as big as Iron Maiden, Testament and Kreator and touring the festival circuit throughout Europe, India's Kryptos blazes a very new yet strangely familiar trail, with a fretwork-focused sound crossing everything from Coroner, Megadeth and Mercyful Fate with trad acts like Iron Maiden while delivering a wholly unique and original modern metal assault! Join us as we speak to vocalist/guitarist Nolan Lewis and lead guitarist Rohit Chaturvedi of Kryptos, only here on Third Eye Cinema! Next, we feature another boundary breaking force in the world of modern metal! A man who fronts one of the biggest acts to hail from the rarefied air of Switzerland, he renewed and revitalized the long running act with his powerful, emotional tones and heartfelt fire! After his excellent debut with 2011's Back on Track, he and his band have managed to top their previous sales record with a new record that finds them simultaneously more aggressive and more radio friendly, seeking new directions while maintaining a similar approach and finesse! Please join us as we speak to a true gentleman among the metal scene, vocalist John Prakesh of Swiss chart toppers Shakra, only here on Third Eye Cinema! http://thirdeyecinema.wordpress.com/ http://www.facebook.com/ThirdEyeCinema
