This week, we're giving another look at the perennially divisive Jesus Franco Manera, favorite son of Spanish (and French, and German...) cult film aficionados everywhere.   Once popularly derided and critically despised, a large percentage of Franco's extensive filmography has since been given a reappraisal in the light of HD restorations from any number of cult "boutique" labels in the DVD era.   Tonight, we pick up after the Soledad Miranda era, when Franco regrouped and came back swinging with his longtime open relationship domestic partner (and eventual wife) Lina Romay, who would stand with him through the remainder of his 1970's heyday and endure if not drive his long decline into the hardcore arena, before his belated resurgence of popularity and move into the very personal if admittedly flawed shot on video arena. We've spoken to the extremely prolific Senor Franco twice before, so let's see just how far we can get before the clock runs down on us once more! Kicking off with a nod to its roots in the burlesque loop and the short lived but entertaining early '60s nudie cutie craze, we're talking the surprisingly mainstreamed era of "(adult) chic", when everyday couples and trendy hipster types would venture into the seedy, sticky floored grindhouses of Times Square and the like, taking wallet, jewelry and life in hand to catch the latest hardcore effort, to share their experiences with likeminded friends and maybe learn a new technique or two in the process... Good evening, fellow seekers, and welcome to Moving Towards Light, a forum where we discuss and provide some hard earned insight relating to our own explorations of the many roads and methods which promise to lead us to the ultimate answer: a higher purpose, the meaning of life. Those old commercials had it right: reading is fundamental.  Spiritual texts. The importance of literacy and critical thinking. There are many things being said out there, and a lot of them are crap.  You need to know what to look for and when to pay attention amidst all the detritus on display.   And more than that: you don't want to railroad yourself by working from a limited palette. If you want to get anywhere or touch anything of value, you'll want to draw the truth from different sources...while rejecting the misinformation and lies.  Plus our usual tangenital flow of thought and transference of deep knowledge and esoteric wisdom...regular listeners know the score! Service.  Most belief systems and practically applicable philosophies preach similar core tenets: help those less fortunate, be an active member of your community, treat others with the same care, respect and value as you do yourself and those you love...so why exactly do so many of us...hell, all of us, get so hung up on hating "outsiders" of whatever stripe?  It's time to get real with ourselves and recognize the importance...the basic human need for self examination and genuine humility.  It's high time we actively practice getting over ourselves, and recognizing none of us are the only (or best) person or persons on Earth.
